Christmas Eve Without A Peeve And Ample Celebration Achieved

As arranged,
I met the fishing boat
At my Lighthouse dock,
Within the first hour
Of sunlight,
With my cat/kitten,

Black as coal in your stocking,
With one white mitten,

Perched on my shoulder.
To which he has taken
Right well.

Aboard was Sister Darling, of

The Rarefied Church of the World (reformed).

I told the Captain,
Before even speaking to
The religion-professing Darling,
That he need not retrieve her
Upon his evening return.
And wished him
A most
Auspicious Christmas.

She carried a hamper of Christmas fare
And good cheer.
As we together walked
Up toward the Lighthouse Keeper’s
House,
My cat/kitten,
With one effortless leap,
Transported himself
From my shoulder
To hers.
He is perhaps anticipating
 Some culinary miracle
In addition to
That of Christmas Eve.

I Am A Sophisticated Friday Night Drunk

(Some New Brunswick Friday entertainment)

It is a Friday night
In New Brunswick.
There are Friday nights
In old Brunswick,
They are called
Freitag Nacht.

In New Brunswick (perhaps of old),
The guys and gals
Got drunk,
And ate well,
To celebrate
The weekend.

Steaks and beer,
(Maybe fish & chips),
As long as one was
Well-oiled
To slide into Saturday.

But I am a
Sophisticated
New Brunswick
Drunk

Though
Perhaps not
Refined.

With my steak
(and fries),
I have red wine.
Red red wine
Though – admittedly –
From a box.

But it is
High-toned
Red red wine
(In a box),
Imported
From Australia.

Where they also know
How to eat steak,
And let ‘er rip
On a Friday night.

It’s Cow Appreciation Day / Ici #CowAppreciationDay

Oh, wondrous bovine,
You blessed cow,
Milketh you we
For your cow wine.

Taketh we your steaks,
Your roasts,
Your hide.

A nice calf’s liver
And veal beside.

From your gorgeous eyes,
And your gentle moo,
Dear hoofed creature,
We love you!
